While we have no control over the use of alcohol on the river, we strongly encourage moderation or abstinence. Misuse of alcohol is a major factor in water-related accidents. We will not permit intoxicated persons to begin a trip. River trips do not occur if the water level is too high or too low. Rappahannock River trips run at levels between 2.9 feet and 5 feet on the Remington gauge. Rapidan River trips run at levels between 0.8 feet and 4 feet on the Culpeper gauge. For information on current river levels, go to Real-Time Data for Virginia Stream Flow or Sterling Forecast Page. You can also call (703) 260-0107 for daily river level reports. For information on local weather, check out The Weather Channel - Richardsville, VA 22736
To enhance the primitive atmosphere and to respect the rights of other campers, no radios are allowed.
Reservations are guaranteed only by prepayment. During peak season (May 15 thru July 4th weekend), river activity reservations require a 10% down payment and full payment three weeks prior to your trip. Prepayment is not required for camping reservations in the wooded sites except on holiday weekends. Prepayment is required on all river sites, and there is a two-night minimum on weekends. Cash, checks, MasterCard and Visa are accepted for reservations and rentals. In order to receive a refund on prepaid reservations, cancellations must be made 10 days in advance. Tube, canoe, and kayak trips occur regardless of weather conditions, with low and high water being the sole exceptions. We’re good, but we can’t guarantee sunshine or the perfect water level!
